Quality Control Inspector, 3-6 month fixed term contract, Motherwell, £16- £20 per hour, full time Monday to Friday

About The Role

We are seeking a dependable, highly organized Quality Inspector for an immediate 3–6 month fixed-term contract. You will be the final line of defence in our production process. You will ensure all components and fabricated vehicles meet strict engineering standards before handover to the customer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Inspections: Inspect all components and vehicles against sales and engineering paperwork.
  • Drawing Compliance: Check measurements and interpret technical drawings to verify specifications.
  • Defect & NCR Management: Log all production defects and raise Non-Conformance Report (NCR) paperwork.
  • Daily Alignment: Attend production meetings, update completion times, and report delays to managers.
  • Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI): Conduct final PDI checks, including plating, utility testing, and paperwork sign-off.
  • Health & Safety: Implement site safety policies, manage personal PPE, and report equipment defects.
  • Sustainability: Participate actively in workshop waste reduction through careful material separation. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Job Requirements

Essential (Must-Have)
  • Industry Experience: Proven track record in a similar inspection role within Metal Fabrication.
  • Qualifications: A relevant, recognized qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced ability to read, understand, and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Admin Skills: Strong administration capabilities to handle compliance data and NCRs.
  • Traits: Sharp attention to detail, sound judgment, dependability, and the ability to work under pressure. [1, 2]
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
  • HGV Specialist: 2+ years of experience inspecting fabricated HGVs (Heavy Goods Vehicles).
  • Leadership: Natural ability to motivate workshop teams and manage tight time frames.
