Fabricator (Ongoing Contract)

We are currently looking for an experienced Fabricator to join a busy engineering workshop on an ongoing contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong fabrication and MIG welding experience who is looking for stable, long-term work within a professional workshop environment.

The position is approximately 95% workshop-based, with the work consisting of around 80% fabrication and 20% MIG welding. You will primarily be working with mild and secondary steel, with some aluminium work also involved.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural steel beams, staircases and bespoke steelwork.
• Carry out MIG welding on mild and secondary steel.
• Work with aluminium where required.
• Carry out gearbox repairs and associated fabrication work.
• Accurately measure, mark out and cut materials.
• Form, prepare and assemble steel components.
• Read and work from engineering and technical drawings.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience working as a Fabricator within an engineering or structural steel environment.
• Experience fabricating with mild steel and stainless steel.
• Good MIG welding experience.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering/technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, including measuring, cutting and forming.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.

Desirable

• Aluminium welding/fabrication experience.
• Experience with structural steel, staircases or bespoke steelwork.
• Previous experience carrying out repair and modification work.
