Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transport operations, ensuring efficient routing and on-time home deliveries
- Manage fleet compliance, including MOTs, servicing, inspections, and defect resolution
- Ensure all vehicles meet legal requirements such as tax and insurance
- Monitor vehicle condition, logging and escalating defects promptly
- Support driver and agency staff recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development
- Deliver inductions, team briefings, and performance management support
- Maintain accurate transport records, compliance logs, and operational documentation
- Analyse performance data including delivery success rates, damages, and service levels
- Assist with route planning and resource allocation based on operational demand
- Handle customer queries and escalations, ensuring timely and professional resolution
- Work closely with warehouse, planning, and customer service teams
Requirements
- Previous experience in transport, logistics, or home delivery operations
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and vehicle compliance
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Proficient in IT systems including Excel, routing software, and telematics
- Highly organised with strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Proactive, reliable, and safety-focused with a customer-centric approach
